5-27-2025 Fishing Report
We are finally starting to get a decent down rod bite. Water temps are still a little low, 77 at Clarks Hil and 76 at Hartwell at daylight. This low pressure that just passed through with highs around 60 has to of dropped that down a little more. As we get some heat over the coming week, things should really start to go off. On Hartwell I’m getting a really good bite up pretty shallow in 15 feet or less on down rods. Once it gets full day light that bite has been ending with fish pulling out deeper. At that point you just have to look till you find them but there can still be some good action on up in the morning. Lots of bait late morning around 30 feet and the fish seem to be hanging around those bait pods. At Clarks Hill the early bite has been so hot that I have no idea how the bite is mid-morning. We have been starting in the dark and limited out, releasing fish till we are out of bait by 8:00AM on recent trips. Murray still has a mixed bag of fish on free lines and few fish coming on down lines. Over the next week, that down rod bite should go crazy. One and done starts June 1 on Murray, so 5 of any size can be kept.
Crappie are on their typical May/June pattern, stacked on deeper off shore brush in 15 to 25 feet of water for the most part. I haven’t checked any bridges but I suspect they are stacked on bridges too.
June is one of my favorite months to fish. It’s a moth where you want to be on the water very early and the bite is done by 11:00 at the latest, but it’s red hot during the prime time. Give me a call and let’s get out there.
